The Baby Spoons

For far too many years, our family has kept leftover baby spoons in the silverware drawer. Just never got around to throwing them out. Occasionally, the kids would decide it'd be funny to eat breakfast with the baby spoons, and they'd attempt to eat Raisin Bran with a spoon that can't hold more than one pea.

From time to time, early in the morning hours, the kids would debate over who got to eat with which baby spoon. Sometimes, the debate ended in tears.

Today, in a moment of divine insight, we bid adieu to the baby spoons. It felt so good. Here are the pictures:

Good bye, old friend.

We'll miss you.

sippy cups are next; to be quickly followed by baby books & chunky puzzles.

These things have "disappeared" before - the difference now is that the kids know beforehand their beloved stuff is going in the trash. This is very strategic (in a sadistic parenting kind of way). Before, it was out of site out of mind. The pain of separation is part of the program.
