War games

With school being out for both of us, Jake and I have some time on our hands these days. Today we enacted a massive war game using our plastic Cowboys and Indians set. Jake played all the red characters (both Cowboys and Indians, mind you -- I'm not raising a jingoist here) and I played all the green guys.

Please take a look at the results. Jake always seems to do incredibly well in these types of games.

Preparation for a massive battle between the Reds and the Greens is nearly complete.

The Greens were totally wiped out. The Reds suffered few casualties.

The Reds celebrate their virtually effortless victory.

freezing salad

I came home on Friday to find my fabulous hausfrau had done another super duper job of grocery shopping. Everything on sale and under budget. The pre-chopped salad was even two-for-one. So, thinking like a smart shopper, he purchased two; came home; put one in the freezer.

Live and learn.

The Baby Spoons

For far too many years, our family has kept leftover baby spoons in the silverware drawer. Just never got around to throwing them out. Occasionally, the kids would decide it'd be funny to eat breakfast with the baby spoons, and they'd attempt to eat Raisin Bran with a spoon that can't hold more than one pea.

From time to time, early in the morning hours, the kids would debate over who got to eat with which baby spoon. Sometimes, the debate ended in tears.

Today, in a moment of divine insight, we bid adieu to the baby spoons. It felt so good. Here are the pictures:

Good bye, old friend.

We'll miss you.
